Yup... you did the right thing.

If you are not happy for what ever reason the best thing to do is walk away, and fair play to you for doing so, most people get the rose tints, and thats it.

If you had bought it, every little thing that went wrong you would think.. 'bugger I new it wasn't right'

Thanks Dan
I just need people to tell me i done the right think as i was ready to buy and am now gutted, But have talked to local dealer TMS and arranged to test more this weekend and will see them tomorrow at the Lincolshire show.
I guess i will have to dig deep and pay up with a TVR dealer, but the saving in the private marked is so tempting
I have been reading all the treads here on PH for the last 6 months so have picked up on some good tips to buy
Thanks its nice to know someone is out there

Sounds like you did the right thing. The leak could be minor (rocker/sump gaskets) or major (head). And it's a b1tch to tell. If no warranty then avoid.

Did they still make the 4.0HC when S reg'd were around? I thought it was superceded by the 4.5? You might want to check.

Also more than a bit of chipping and surface rust at this age on the wishbones means the car probably hasn't been looked after too well.

White stuff under the screen is common. The glass starts to delaminate at the end if water gets between the panes (I think). Unless it's a big area most people ignore it. Doesn't seem to get any worse in most cases.
