Getting "used" to the speed/Nirvana!
Discussion
It seems to me, that the perception of hasten varies depending on useage.
The more you drive> the slower your car seems to be.
This expounds a percentage of modifications that find themselves bolted onto our autos.
The reverie of "I need more power" makes us mien at various websites. The allure, occasionally leads to the lightening of wallets.
"So what", i hear you cry.
Indeed, my proffering is not novel erudition. However, I assert that the inimical is true.
If one leaves his automobile for a sustained period, the sentience of velocity is lost.
Re-entry of the cockpit (say, after 4weeks) sees one nauseated with the forward thrust.
It seems too fast!
Has somebody supercharged my beloved?
Nay! Instead i have been vitiated by the BMW. ABS, Sound-deadening, 6 CD autochanger and the laborious, yet predictable "kick in the vertabrate" at 2000rpm become 2nd nature.
Speed is no longer an issue. Being a pernicious driver is!
Seriously, one neglegets the speed one can take around a particular set of roundabouts. One forgets the feel of the tarmac and the moo seating of El 'Beast.
There is a point to this conjecture, nay, assertion.
The heart-strings that are plucked upon re-entry of El 'Beast are, well..... nirvana! There is nothing quite like it. it is reminiscent of your first drive.
Various bodily fluids are pumped around your head, the primary dulcet being adrenaline! It is a double-edged sword, however. See my thread "corrosion warning".
I urge you all, if time/facilities permit, to leave your elises at home. Let them rest for a week or two.
You will be so much more appreciative of said elises, and mainly, you will experience nirvana upon re-entry!

You really are a proper fountain of skcollob aren't you... just when we think you're done you drop another on us
...but in all seriousness you're totally right, and have pre-empted my post du jour somewhat.
I drove the folks to Gatwick this morning in their people carrier, got back to theirs to drop "the van" off and swapped back to the 'liz.
It was amazing, I'd only been in their car for an hour or so, but getting back into el beast with no servos, so low to the ground, so pointy and poised, so excited by each cm of throttle you feed in... it was a revelation - like the first day I picked him up, floored it on a bypass and found myself p!ssing myself laughing at what I'd done.
Then this evening, after a long and tiresome day at work, I decided to pop out for a quick half hour with the roof off as the sun set...
well it was such fun that I ended up coming home in the pitch dark having been out for 2 hours going round and about the country lanes of Kent just for the sheer hell of listening to quality hip-hop and the ever warming sound of my 'zorst. Everytime I think I've got used to it, I head out to some stretch of road I've not been on for a while, bounce it off the redline in 3rd, snick home 4th and push it until it's begging for 5th... then the uncontrollable laugher comes on again.
Damn I love that car right as it is - I'd 'quite' fancy a hurricane, a quickshift would be 'nice', hell, a 111s with a bit more grunt and a closer ratio box would be 'fun', but you know what? If this is my lot in life, if this is as good as it gets, I'll take it and enjoy every last minute.
LETS ROCK!

yeah - youre right Drag
..I drive my car daily and it dosent seem that fast at all...if I spend a few days in a hotel for work, maybe a day or 2 in a hire car in a foreign country...then come back, pick the Elise up at the airport....well it seems like a rocket...at least for a day or so
driving a 'normal' car for a few days definately makes you appreciate the Elise more
