Hello!

Quick question - a colleague has a car that will need major engine work, roughly costing approx half the value of the car itself (golf plus diesel).

Without trying to scam insurance, is it possbile to claim on insurance for the repairs to the car?

Just looking for a long shot way of economising the repair costs...

Was it an accident that caused the engine damage?

only via an accident, for example driving into a flash flood and the engine takes in water/gets hydro-locked.

Jeez what a response.

With regards to your question, no he can't claim.

Advise him to look after his car better in the future.

Quick buy a warranty! Only kidding thats not good advice and will only get you in trouble!

Like the other guy said has to be accidental damage of some sort like maybe.......................washing the engine off whilst running that would count too.

I did handle a claim once where a stone flicked up and got caught between bottom pully and cam-belt and after weeks of arguing the insurer actually paid! God I sound old now it was a 1800 sri cavalier with no cambelt cover on it!
