Can you test a ballast resistor ?

Hi guys ,as per heading , can you test a ballast resistor ? Putting it on the ohm setting of tester etc ...........cheers Mark

Hi, yes you can.

It should be about 1.6 ohms if I remember correctly. If it is faulty it will be open circuit.

Should drop the voltage feed to the coil to about 8 volts

If you don't have a test meter....

If you connect it in series with a small bulb (like instrument illumination size) across the battery, the bulb should light, but only dim, not full brightness.
