There I said it.
You know the kind of car, base-spec, small engine cars that never won Le Mans, just took your regular bloke to work, maybe his kids learnt to drive in it. Non-Sprint Dolomite, 1.1 Fiesta Mk1 popular, 1.6 Mk5 Cortina, my Pug 205D with exercise windows.
Obviously the sportier variants of a car are looked after well for their performance. The valuable cars are looked after because they're valuable. But something like a 1.3 Vauxhall Viva in well looked after condition really cheers me up. Very little performance and not much inherent market worth but the owner loves it and is proud of their work keeping it on the road and looking good really cheers me up.
Obviously I'm not saying owners of sporty/expensive cars DON'T love theirs too, but you get the point.

As you know, years ago these basic acrs were just that - basic. And if you wanted a heater, sunroof, power steering, air con etc, it was all extra. Now, even these 1.1 models are coming with everything on mostly. It's the way of the world. These basic ones from years ago must be kept - it's not only the GLS as opposed to the L which must be looked after!
And I speak as someone with a Dodge truck with wind up windows and no central locking - true poverty spec!
