I used a tin of brush on Halfords enamel engine paint on mine when I painted it about 4 years ago and it still looks fine. I'm not sure if they do silver, but there will be plenty of places that do.

Just make sure you degrease it well before you paint and it should be fine.

If your engine block reachs 600C then the paint won't be a problem

I used the Halfords enamel paint as well. The finish was excellent, very smooth even though it was brush painted and it lasted years without any problems, only lifting in the spots I didn't prep properly. Wire brushing the engine and thoroughly cleaning it with cellulose thinners worked.

I used engine lacquer from the local car shop. comes in a few colours. Prep is key to the paint sticking.
