Supermarket open on Sunday

Thought you all might like to know that the Carrefour Market (old Champion) at Mulsanne is now opening Sunday mornings. Apparently Carrefour have sold these smaller shops off as a franchise operation and the new owners have taken this decision. So, you've got the bakery, petrol and supermarket all together if you need it next June.

Thanks for the update. Has the MacDonalds been opened after the refurb now? They actually do really nice breakfast options, that we don't get here

I wish the Carrefour would open later in the evenings. 8pm is too early; I'm sure they're missing out on a load of business

Which McDonalds? The one alongside the Mulsanne is open as always and the one next to Carrefour always full it seems. As regards opening later, that isn't part of French life. I mean, Sunday consists of going to mass, family lunch, TV, prayers and bed still! It is an enormous advance that a supermarket will be open at all on a Sunday.

If all you want is food & drink the Mulsanne Carrefour is a much better bet then the Centre Sud one, everything you'll need & it takes 1/10th of the time to get round

Would have thought the Carrefour on Av Felix Geneslay would have been more convenient than Mulsanne for most people. Tabacs down there too for the smokers!

Av Felix Geneslay is the road into Le Mans town from the eastern end of the Parc des Expositions

If you bothered to read above, it will be up to the owner of each Carrefour Market under the new system, but I'm damned if I am going to make the trip around every supermarket to find out for you. Oh, and during Le Mans there is a tabac open at Mulsanne - it's called la Boule d'Or. Sometimes I wonder why I bother to post.

Sorry Lowdrag, no bullets intended for the messenger, just saying that there is stuff nearer where most people are located open. I love Mulsanne and all the villages around the circuit...but the less people take to the roads during a very busy weekend the better surely?

Especially to Mulsanne on Sunday morning, our usual haunt is the Mulsanne corner early morning. Useful to know there will be a supermarket open although we know a good bakery for the croissant and pain au chocolat.

Lowdrag - the McDonalds on the Mulsanne is shut during the race isn't it? Pretty sure you can't get near when the road becomes a racetrack.

Tried to get there wednesday afternoon for some wifi but the police didn't let me get there, although it is inside the track and I came from Houx so I didn't have to cross the track at all.
I'd close my business for a few days if my customers were stopped by the cops!

Yes, the McDonalds during the race is in a "zone rouge", so closed when the track is open. However, I don't call that food anyway. I'll say it again, but if anyone wants a truly superb menu at 20€ lunchtime then forget McD, carry straight on across the Mulsanne to the next village called Ruaudin. In the middle is a little restaurant called the Auberge des Blés d'Or. Only during the week, not weekends though. Good if basic wine list too.

Thanks for confirming Tony, I agree with you about McDonalds and food! Good to have a recommendation for a proper restaurant, don't tell everyone though or we might not get in, the one we like in the centre of Le Mans has got so busy on a Friday we start queuing about 30 minutes before it opens now!
