So, having had my car stolen on Sunday night (they broke in to take the keys), I have just had the theft investigation call with the insurer during which they asked if I was aware of a valuation enquiry made on my car about 10 days before it was stolen.

Of course I wasn't. Which makes me think, if the insurer were able to find this out, is there a service out there that we car owners can use to monitor if someone has taken an interest in our pride and joys?

They ask everyone this question now while a machine detects irregularities in your voice patterns during your response. I hope you remained calm, otherwise the fraud squad will be knocking at your door in the early hours. Sleep well wink

WTF.

What next, getting the local car dealer to report to you if someone asked how much your car was worth as they want to buy one like it? biggrin I mean, really biggrin

Anyway, what could you DO with this information? Not a lot, all it would do is raise your blood pressure and raise your paranoia levels biggrin

I bet this sort of thing is done loads, people wanting to see how much to insure car X so they put in a reg of one they know of. Nosey neighbours/friends/colleagues wondering how much you proabably really paid for it etc.....

Go camp outside at night in Camo with your gun and wait for the thieves to arrive...Oh no wait we are not in America.

Only thig you can do is HPI your car, and look at the previous searches it's had, who's made them, and how recent.
