Greetings from the USA. I have acquired a 71 Vixen 2500 and I am just starting to tear into it. The car is in very good shape with very low miles (it has spent most of its life sitting in a storage container). The previous owner “woke” the car up from its long hibernation and rebuilt the carbs, got the brakes working, replaced the shocks and springs. The car only has 17K miles on it and it runs very well. I do have a few questions and would love to solicit the knowledgeable folks on this forum for help.

The car is now sporting after market wheels (originals were included) and new rear wheel studs were installed along with a spacer. How do I assess if the installation of those studs were handled properly. Everything seems nice and tight but with all the talk of crush tubes should I be concerned about their condition.

The car also has a few minor issues that are mostly cosmetic. Such as a ripped shifter boot, does the center console panel unbolt from under the car or does it just snap up?

The last issue I am having involves the left side window. The window only moves up and down if you pull and or push the window up and down when turning the hand crank. If you do not put pressure on the window the hand crank just spins. I would think I need to clean and lubricate the mechanism how do I get the door skin off? Is there anything else I should know about the window winding mechanism?

If there is interest I would be happy to post pictures of my car, and thank you to anyone that can help with my questions.

If you have a chrome strip then that slides off (once the door is open) then the screws and the sliding clips get removed, then under the door and on the leading edge there are tapit's that you un-screw about an 1/8 of an inch and pull the pin out prior to prising the assembly out (lift the trim panel and once the pin is out they should just pull away).
The door handles have spring loaded assemblies (escutcheons) that hide a pin, they need to be lifted and the pin pressed out.

Hi, very nice colour, also thinkin of doing the same with mine. During my cars initial restoration I discovered the same sort of problems with my windows. My experiencewas that the window frames and the felt in the window channels were too restrictive, this inturn caused the mounts for the window winder mechanism to tear through the fibreglass due to the restriction of the frames. I riveted a sheet of stainless into the door where the winder mounted on the door and freed up the channels.

She does look very pretty and a nice pair of roundels always helps. wink

The transmission tunnel top has 2 bolts that hold it in place. The heads are below the trim so you need to get under the car to undo the nuts that come through the fibreglass. They are located directly above the prop shaft.
