Rightio.....

I've asked her.... she said yes.....

Apparently thats the easy bit out of the way.....

So now I need suggestions for weddings venues- North Derbyshire / Peak District / Yorkshire and so on and so forth.

We're looking for hotel / country house etc etc somewhere to host the whole day - preferably with accomodation but not 100% neccesary.

She has expressed an interest in Rise Hall - a little further away but thats the sort of thing we're interested in.

I've got an awful feeling the next year or so is going to be very expensive, and rather stressful......

Past few years I feel like the guy from Wedding crashers, been to loads, some good, some not so. Are you after somewhere in the countryside or not too bothered if it's on the edge of a city?

A few nice ones I've been to are Hazlewood Castle near Tadcaster, Oulton Hall just south of Leeds, Woodlands Hotel near Gildersome, Yorebridge House in Bainbridge (Dales).

Have a look at Simonstone Hall near Hawes. End of the Buttertubs pass for that PH factor.

We got married at Aston Hall, just South of Sheffield. It was excellent:

Not sure what sort of numbers you are looking at, but I got married at Crab Manor / Crab & Lobster in Asenby, Thirsk. Highly recommended, albeit 9 years ago - don't have recent review

Thanks guys - some decent ones for us to look at there.

Sadly Bolsover Castle is out as we attended a close friends wedding there earlier this year and Aston Hall is our local more or less so again is out.

Numbers wise - probabaly around 60 for the day and maybe 100 for the night.

We're based in Sheffield so the Peak District, South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire are ideal but we're not adverse to looking at things further afield - especially if accomodation is plentiful.

Chatsworth House has to be the ultimate place, I've worked with them and know how nice they are to work with, more info

Thanks to everyone who has offeed up venues- we are being very very picky.

To give a rough update.

Anything over an hour and 15 minutes from Sheffield is not a goer. - Which sadly covers quite a few of the suggestions.

Bolsover Castle - Attended a friends wedding there earlier this year.

Aston Hall - Our local Hotel / restaurant so not somewhere we want to hold our wedding.

Whirlow Brook Hall - Now closed

Renishaw Hall - No accomodation and charges £50 per photo taken inside the hotel.

Chatsworth - A little too expensive

Hassop Hall - won't entertain weddings of our size.

We've also looked at and visited numerous other locations in and around South Yorkshire / North Derbyshire.

So far the one place we have visited and viewed that we both really like is Rise Hall - Its further than we wanted to travel, its more than we wanted to spend, but it is lovely - has anyone attended an event there or have any experience what so ever? Or no of a similar venue closer to Sheffield?

Thanks again
