Arghhh

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

OK.

996, 1998. The garage have fitted the £636 mufflers at the top of this webpage - the ones with the 'large diameter chamber bipass':

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt63_398_-cma81-cmo1...

They don't blimmin' well fit. The bipass pipe rubs against the bumper. The car has the M030 suspension kit and GT3 bodykit so this may explain it. I think I need to swap the mufflers for the £399 ones further down the page and in doing so will lose the extra volume I was quite looking forwards to.

Are there any other options do we think? Presumably the lack of heatshield will mean the bipass pipes will melt the bumper very quickly if it's left as it is?

Has anyone else been here? I've already had an issue with the mounting brackets - £600 a pair (!) so I got some for the 997 at £150 and had them adapted. (Good little business idea there for anyone with the time)

Thank you as ever

DM

Here you can see the blasted muffler bipass pipe rubbing on the bumber. This is without the heatshield and it's chassis.

By the way, Design911 have been great all the way and my problem in no way reflects on their brilliance. I'm just looking for alternative point of view while this is going on.

Personally, I would be looking to D911 to come up with a solution... if they were sold as suiting your application and they don't, then its back to the retailer.
Yes, I would think part of the exhaust touching the bumper would melt it in spectacular fashion. It needs sorting - either adapting the existing parts so they DO fit, or going for a different set-up. Sorry I can't be of more use, but best of luck.

yeah it will melt if touching. I've seen that happen on a trackday. Send it back.

Did you get this sorted, and if so what do you think of the exhaust?
