Can anyone tell me the actual date of the 1984 Paris Motor Show? I know it took place in September, but I’m curious as to the actual date. I know the Ferrari Testarossa was launched there and I’m wondering just how close to my birthday (also in September) this happened. Thanks!

I'm afraid I've done a little research and found that it didn't take place in September.

It was 4th-14th of October 1984, in the Porte de Versailles in Paris.

If you're searching for it, look for "salon del'automobile" as that's what the show was called until 1986.

Proof of dates:

According to this, the show was opened to the public on the 5th October by Francois Mitterand:

Interesting, thanks. I spent quite some time searching last night and wasn’t able to turn up anything. Every record I’ve found on the Ferrari Testarossa states that it was launched in September 1984 at the Paris Auto Show, so that’s possibly a case of one person getting it wrong and everyone else copying them!

It's okay, I can perpetuate my man maths "fate decreed it should be" argument with the unquestionable fact that Sergio Pininfarina, the Testarossa's designer, shares the same astrological sign as me biggrin
