Fantastic stuff. Good find.

The cockpit seems surprisingly roomy too. I'd always imagined they were very cramped in the Mossie.

The Mossies cockpit is so cramped that the crew is staggered as it would be very difficult to get side by side


On a visit to the Mosquito Aircraft Museum 20 years ago I got chatting to a lovely old boy called Ralph Hare, who was on
duty with the prototype W4050 after a fascinating 45 minutes chat about the aircraft, I asked how easy it was
to get in and out of, Ralph beckoned me under the nose of the aircraft, where he opened the hatch and pulled out the
telescopic ladder and said I could try it for size, I didn't need asking twice so I clambered up the ladder and plonked
myself into the pilots seat and Ralph joined me in the Navigators seat, to give me a tour of the cockpit
and it was tiny and in battledress,and the other ephemera of war it must've been cosy to say the least.
after about 15 minutes we clambered down I mentioned he was very clued up on the aircraft I asked "how so?"
He said he'd been part of the aerodynamics design team for the aircraft at Salisbury Hall in 1940!

It was a humbling day and it brought home to me just how brave our pilots in Wartime where.

Interesting stuff, cheers. Video must make it look more roomy than it is.

At least the Nav had some legroom though. I can remember shoehorning myself into the front seat of a Pitts and that was tiny. With me being 6'5" my wife described it as looking like a frog sat on a matchbox.
