I can't remember if I've asked this before, but I'm not a local (per-se) and I am often at a loss as to what to do with the kids at the weekend. There are the obvious local parks - Central and Normanby as well as Elsham (for the 2 weekends that it's open in the year), there's Cleethorpes which is nice when it's nice, as well as Doncaster wildlife park and, sometimes, The Deep.

So, can anyone suggest anywhere else we can try around the Brigg/Shorpe type area that is worth a visit for a family that includes a 1 and 4 year old - Having not grown up around here, I'm properly stumped..

Thanks

JTW

On a clear day, a trip to Spurn point is a good fun, if your kids are the outdoors types - I.E. run about, jump on the sand dunes, climb the rocks, find some skimmers, watch the massive container ships bimbling about, look for birds etc.

You'll also get to drive over the Humber Bridge which is fun, could even stop at the viewing area, and its down a nice road to the coast too after Hull.

Sundown near Gainsborough is a great day out for little kids. I went there a couple of times when I was young and it's supposed to be even better now:

I took my boy in the summer and he loved it. He's only 2 but we went with friends who had a 2 and 4 year old and they loved it as well

Go via The Deep in Hull. It's brilliant and one of the few positives about Hull.

Oi - I didn't do much in the end - did photography and went to a kids party instead. One that my daughter was invited to - obviously.

And The Deep is ok, but dull for a 4 and a 1 year old. Oo look. Fish. Oo look. More fish. Too young to appreciate the activities there frown

Other suggestions welcome smile

My two year old loved it. You need to get them into the Octonauts; they change their view. There's a new series just started too.

Fort Paul in/near Hull is meant to be good, haven't been myself just recommendation from someone at work
http://www.fortpaull.com/

Or Tropical Butterfly House, near Sheffield.

Some of the animals are allowed to roam around and you can feed them too.
