Hi everyone,

I have a 32 inch Samsung LCD tv and am looking to hook up some speakers and an amp to the tv. Unfortunately I have absolutely ZERO knowledge in this area whatsoever so i am unsure whether it is possible. I'm getting conflicting reports from different articles so thought i may as well just ask here.

Here is a picture of all the inputs on the back of the tv. just scroll half way down the page:

The speakers and amp combo is pretty old. The amp is a JVC A-10X. The screenshot at the start of the video shows the rear:

The speakers are just Kef Celeste IV.

Can anyone tell me whether i can hook all of this up together to make the tv audio to play out of the speakers? If so, how?

Also, would it be possible to play a laptop's audio from the speakers?

Thanks in advance and let me know if i need to give more info.

Sitting at work so no streaming video allowed.

The two audio out sockets (red & white) on the back are what you need to use. I assume your amp has similar input sockets for "Aux". Cables to connect them are not hard to find.

Don't forget you can spend more than the cost of the TV on cables. In this case I'm sure cheap ones from somewhere like Maplin will be OK.

Yep, simple phono lead from Audio Out on the TV to the Aux input on the amp.

As the other's have said use the l/r phono audio out sockets to any input on your amp (except the 'phono' in, this is for record decks only)... your laptop should have a 3.5mm stereo jack out, you can get a 'mini'jack to stereo l/r phono cable to connect.

note with the tv you'll probably have to control the volume with the amp's volume control, as the tv's out will most likely be at fixed level.

you don't need expensive cables, a £2.99 or so stereo phono/3.5mm pair will do the job fine.

Careful, before you know it you'll have a 60" TV, be eyeing up amp and speaker upgrades or even

full surround sound systems.biggrin
