how long to hear back from interview????
Discussion
I think it went well!
Introduction, to second round, to final with Director took place in 3 days. Was told in final interview I would hear back around 16th.......still nothing. I emailed HR on the Monday, no reply.
So, how long is acceptable? Its Sales Manager, fwiw.
Yes. I really want it!

I have come to hate modern recruitment -from having me travel all over the country at y expenses, to the sheer nonsense of many recruitment processes and sheer bad manners by HR people and their agents. Two of my "favourite" experiences:
19th April - verbal offer and repeated assurances thereafter by phone and email till end August when I got an email saying "the project is not going ahead".
Interviewed 10 August 2011 - still waiting to hear one way or the other! I didn't want this job but thought I had hidden it better than that!

Have you tried calling them?
You know, chasing a lead like a salesman would?
That was kind of my point. A salesman would have had an email to the director sitting in his inbox the next morning (or indeed the same day) outlining his/her personal value proposition and maybe an invite via linked in.You know, chasing a lead like a salesman would?
Then a closing phone call or two.
A little trick I used a few times that seemed to work....
Call them (don't email). Say that you are looking at grabbing a few days holiday but that you are very keen on the position so just wanted to see what the situation was with the job as you don't want to miss out by being away.
Thus, you don't come across as 'needy' and you'll probably get the answer there and then.

I had a partner interview with the firm I'm with just now on 31st May this year and wasn't told I actually had the job until 11th July due to internal restructuring and other issues. The first few weeks were horrible waiting without word, I then gave up before they contacted me and briefly explained the situation, and apologied for keeping me waiting. It would have been nice to know that I had actually passed the interview but there may no longer be a vacancy available, however in my case no news actually was good news.

Yea, I am secretly hoping that Lauryn! But, I fear its not good news. I am going to write a Sales Proposal doc for them over the weekend and fire it off, see what happens...I have nothing to loose at this stage...

A sales doc? As a hiring manager I'd scan it quickly - and probably drag it to the HR folder
Write a short, punchy email to the director reaffirming your personal value proposition and provide an open question to re-engage.
I currently run a small company in a sector which they are performing poorly in (mobile advertising) and was going to put together a proposal for increasing their traffic by mobile. It isn't what they job description entailed, but would be a revenue increaser. As described, I have nothing to loose now!
So.. save yourself a lot of time and effort and just dangle the carrot, don't put all teh work in.
Dear abc
It was good to meet with you on the 19th; I look forward to hearing from your regarding the position.
Since our conversation I have been looking further at your business and I have a number of ideas that might increase your revenue in the first half of 2013.
One idea is around driving incremental growth in your xxx sector through the use of a mobile platform that does abc and xyz. Based on my experience and sucess at ABC, this has the potential to increase your revenue by 3% and 8% over 6 months.
I've built up a draft proposition that supports these numbers and if you could spare 15 minutes by phone next week I'd like to take you through it?
Kind regards
etc
Then if he bites you can write the proposal, if he doesn't then you have saved the time.

I'm the same. I was head hunted in Jan of this year and told "the job is yours", did the interview and even paid for a CRB check. Recruiter told me to hand in notice as they wanted me there ASAP (it was abroad) but I said until I see a contract I am sure you will understand that I would be foolish to resign. 19th April - verbal offer and repeated assurances thereafter by phone and email till end August when I got an email saying "the project is not going ahead".

Still waiting for the contract! Even if it turned up tomorrow they can poke it as I will not work for such unprofessional people.
