I've been looking at a car that currently has a dry sump Zetec 1.8 fitted.
I know it can take also take a 2.0 Zetec and the running gear and rest of the car can handle up to 230 bhp for racing.

I'd rather have the more modern 2.0 Duratec instead, still with a dry sump, but with 190-200 bhp output.

Is this possible, I've been looking online to try and find overall dimensions and mass comparison as well as mounting info, but so far I've not turned up enough to find out.

.Adam.

Hi Dave, be aware that the exhaust and induction are on opposite sides on Zetecs and Duratecs.

As a follow on to this. I need to make up a new device to get the oil into the block from the dry sump pump. I already have an adapter plate but the unions foul on the pump unions and I need to make a slimmer unit. This isnt a problem, but does anyone know what size the thread is that goes into the block that the filter screws onto. I have one fitted in in the block but I would like to know before stripping the kit off. This is on a 2 ltr Black Top. Regards, RedT.....

Hi Steve, I checked that against a filter but I need to know the thread which is actually in the block because it is slightly larger as I need to screw an adapter into the block to push the ouil through. RedT.

Try Thinkauto.com they may have a sandwich plate which will suit your needs or know the thread used.

Finally got over to my other workshop and removed the threaded portion. It is 3/4" unf one end for the filter and 24 x 2mm at the end which goes into the block.....

I suppoase it makes sense, all the other threads are metric. The filter of course fits lots of other engines so saves having to have another filter in the parts list.....
