Realistic budget for two weeks in Orlando
Discussion
Having been there several times as a youngster and thus all paid for by my parents, i am wondering how mich to budget for two weeks there in April 2013.
I will be going with my family, plus my girlfriend, and accomodation is paid for (timeshare).
So, need to consider flights, theme park tickets, general spends/food etc and spending lolly!
My reckonings so far are as follows:
Flights: £700 (per person)
Theme parks: £500 (pp)
General spends: £100 per day x 14
Spending: £500
So a grand total of approx £3100 each, sound about right?

I'd have to add it up, but I reckon £1200pp + spending money.
Don't forget to add in car hire to your prices.
£100 a day + £500 is excessive, unless you buy every piece of tat going (and there is an awful lot of it). If I remember rightly I took $1k US last time and came home with change, other than a few t-shirts & trainers I didn't really "shop" though.
Either way, take a credit card.
The ticket cost for the parks totally depends on which ones, how many you want to do and what access you want - the top ticket lets you come and go as you please, but you pay for it. You can get a decent ticket that lets you in half a dozen parks for about £200.
You will have to pay for car parking at all the parks now, something like $12-20 but its only a few bucks each if there is a car full of you.

We are looking to take the family (2+2) in the next 2 years, and the PH budget concensus is close to £10k for 2 weeks away.

Thanks for the input. We're going with my mum, dad, sister, brother in law and their two kids, stuff like theme park parking etc will be split, and no doubt a few times my old man will pick up the tab if we all eat out together.
I'd rather take too much, than not enough.
We do have these, you know. Lots of them, all different colors and designs. I'd rather take too much, than not enough.
Carrying around wads of cash isn't such a great idea. If you figure which US institutions have reciprocal arrangements with your UK bank, the transaction fees kind of balance out the bureau charges.

Hi. We're planning in going next October (3 adults / 3 kids). Rough budget so far is £12k (£2k each) broken down as follows
Flights £5k
Villa £1.2k
Food/spends £3500
Car Hire £600
Insurance £300
Tickets £1.6k
That is a fFlights £5k
Villa £1.2k
Food/spends £3500
Car Hire £600
Insurance £300
Tickets £1.6k
king massive budget for that time of year.I've been about 5 times, and always have a villa, car etc. That time of year flights should be less than £500 each, and a decent villa for about £400.

We (2 adults 1 teen) go every year in October as we like the Halloween events and quite easily go through 10k but we do tend to spend a lot on shopping.
Flew with monarch once and would rather swim across the Atlantic than travel with them again.

I've not been out of season for a few years, but the most I've paid had been about £400 per person. I do book late though. Best deal I ever got was £2200 all in for 3 adults 2 kids flying virgin, with car and 4 villa (and pool).

He'll be going over half-term though.I few peak season this year, and it was £800pp with Monarch.
We've been goung for 20 years and prices seemed to drop a few years ago - got a package with Travel City Direct when they had their own planes and before they went bust (Virgin bought the name) for £1600 for flights, hotel and car but have never got close to that since. Flights seem to have really gone up for next year.

Take a look at flights from Dublin to the States (maybe into Tampa), you go through immigration in Dublin, so less hassle at the other end. Plenty of cheap flights available to Dublin (quick price last week and it was £500 cheaper for 3+1 than Manchester)
Don't discount in-direct flights either, in August we went from Manchester to Washington, then onto Orlando with United Airlines. Really couldn't fault it and cheaper than flying on crappy Virgin crummy planes.
