Bled what seems like a litre of brakes fluid out. Although the pedal is stiffening up its still full of air. We have also bled the back brakes to make sure. Should it be taking this long or could I have problems elsewhere. I haven't touched anything but the flexi hoses and calipers. Cheers lads.

Sounds like you have a leak letting air in.

Are you bleeding them with the pistons pushed back in first? (New pads will usually do the trick).

Yeah Adam brand new pads and the pistons pushed fully back. They pedal is getting stiffer but it's taking ages and the fluid coming out is a very strange colour.

What colour dix...Water can change the colour..My calipers were crossed drilled so i never had all this trouble..Apparently the 4 pot is a bugger to bleed and takes a few attempts..Are your brake master cylinder seal's ok?..Perhaps they need a good pressure bleeder..If in doubt i would take it to a garage to bleed..Ziga

Zig is correct, it took me 4 attempts to get it right! If you have a "funny colour" fluid coming out that sounds like water or contamination, same colour in the reservoir ? If its black then its normally a sign that the brake master cylinder seals are on their way out

From memory don't the Princess Calipers have 2 circuits that need connecting together? My calipers have a small piece of pipe to connect the 2 circuits together. I have no idea if there are different ways of doing this, but if there were... could this be causing the problem? Have to say that I have no issues bleeding the system on mine. Cheers Steve.

Are the bleed nipples at the top of the calliper? Common to put them on upside down with them at the bottom!
Also when you convert the TR7 to them you struggle to get enough fluid through with the little master cyl. Clamping off the rest of the flexis & just leaving the one you're bleeding open can help!

Pressure bleeding is the best way to do this, starting furthest away from the master cylinder snd working forward.

That reminds me, another job I started some years back... got some APs decomposing in a drawer somewhere, stainless pistons, new seals, spacer kit, bolts, the lot. I think I'll ask for one of those 'round tuits' for xmas... biggrin

Some people join them together with a pipe but i put a T piece in and fed each side seperately with stainless pipes.

well pleased with their performance with green stuff pads.

Th bleed nipples are on the bottom of the calipers ooops I didn't realise they fit both sides. I'll post a piccy up in a bit.

Mustn't laugh but what did I say earlier? Used to get around 1 a month on the TR7 forums with the same issue & fix!

Here's the pictures the bleed nipples are defiantly at the bottom. Does this mean im gunna have to swap them over or will it work as they are but take time to bleed through?

Remember your high school physics ? Air bubbles RISE in fluid, so you'll find it almost impossible to bleed properly with nipples at the bottom. may be a pain, but swap 'em over.
