Dodgy bike for sale?

Found this on gumtree, seems a bit suss to me. What do you guys think?

It doesn't look terribly suspicious. As with any bike purchase I would want to try it before I part with my cash.

Sure the advert looks like it has been written by a simpleton...which is why you might be concerned.

It's a pretty well spec'ed bike too.

It just seems a bit of a vague and unknowing description for what was probably an expensive bike, although I don't know much about downhill bikes to be fair.

Not sure about the price? maybe a typo there....

"new Front Sprokit And New Chain. front and rear pads" sounds like it might have been ridden hard, although doesn't mention about servicing, although I do doubt its been ridden hard with a mud guard like that, looks like it would rub every time the rear shock compressed

"SRAM gears (Black)" (X.what?) and "Hard...soft" adjustment on the Boxxers (Race? Cups?). Nicked. If not by him them sold onto him

Especially when they may want a Pit Bike in exchange.

The only people I have seen on Pit Bikes are the sort of people who you wouldn't want to meet at night. They also want to race MX Bikes that are a lot faster than their bikes.(Sorry if anyone has one, it's just in my experience)

If it was genuine it would list the spec properly, he has basically looked at all the bits and listed the manufacturer where he could see it hence some parts have a brand, some dont but none is related to the spec like X-9, X-0, XT etc etc

I was unaware that the colour of the wheels was an indicator of strentgh though, I'm glad I chose black rims! they're "very strong"

It's posted in the cars section on gumtree-i came across it when looking for swaps for my car. Have no interest in buying it, just thought it was worth a heads up. Definitely dodgy IMO but there's not much I can do apart from post it on a few forums in the hope the original owner recognises it.

Standard practice on gumtree-they charge you £3 to bump your ad to the top or you just delete the old one and submit it again for free.
