Must be time Red Bull announced their young drivers for 2013

The pros are that all the driver has to stump up is travel money.

The cons are that he might only have to find a year's travel money.

But in today's market, is there any other option? if I were a young driver, I's take their coin.

Their young drivers generally disappoint in F1 for a year then disappear in to the wilderness, never to be seen again.

The young drivers programme starts at a far lower level than that - Felix Da Costa seems to be doing well, Carlos Sainz Jr is in the programme...Lewis Williamson was dropped after a year though and Mitch Evans seems to be following a different route, closely aligned to Webber and Horner through MWArden.

Id expect Da Costa to get a few FP1 outings in the Torro Rosso this season ahead of a potential Torro Rosso seat in 2014. Unless they are going to chuck him straight in at RBR.

I see that Tom Blomqvist has signed to their young driver programme. Here's hoping he fares better than Lewis Williamson did; but with a manager who's been there and done it, I think his odds are better....
