Using Xbox controller on a PS3?

For personal comfort reasons I would like to use the xbox controller on the PS3, not to mention i seem to have lost my ps3 controller

So, rather than buy a new controller i would like to get a , thingy instead

Anyone done this, recommendations, does it work, or do are the buttons just 'wrong' to work?

Converters do exist but i have no idea how good they are!

The problem is that my now 3rd Xbox (black slimline version) has got the ring of death, or in this case, the red spot of death!
Im tired of this issue and whilst i love the xbox, more than the PS3, i refuse to buy yet another consul, well, until the new one comes out anyhow
So until then its PS3 only, would just like to use the controller though.

Ouch. Not still under warranty? Or did they stop doing the 3 year warranty with the slim lines?

to be honest im not sure, i bought it just over a year ago in Switzerland where im based, not sure if they cover it for more than a year here, will look into it for sure, but im a lazy sod and no doubt will just not bother using it instead and turn to the PS3

There's an "Xbox 360 controller for PC" which /might/ help? It's an official MS product, but wired for PC not xbox, so might work with ps3. Just a thought.
