I did this tonight, does it make me a bad man?

It happened thus...

large roundabout (Tingley roundabout in Leeds if anyone knows it).

as well as being able to go around the roundabout, as you'd expect, there is also a road that cuts right through the centre to allow traffic not accessing the motorway to pass straight through.

So I pull up to the red light of the junction, I'm going straight through the roundabout, I'm in the right hand lane with a range rover sport in front of me with car X (I can't remember what it was) next to him in the left lane.

Lights change to amber, I look right and see car Y (can't remember what it was) on his way around the roundabout obviously not slowing down for his red light, at all, must have been doing 40+. Range Rover does see him and emergency stops but as he and car X were setting off at the same time Car X's view was obscured and didn't stop at all due to not seeing Car Y.

Cue the mother of all t-bones - what a crunch, horrible sound. The poor sod in Car X got a right ttting and the car buggered off down the road at 90 degrees to where it was heading with car Y flying off to the right and up the roundabout embankment.

Anyway the Range Rover immediately pulled over as did the car behind Car X, I nearly did too but then thought not to bother as they would have it covered between them. These other 2 drivers had just as good a view of things as me too.

So, cool starry bra and all that but I must admit that I did feel guilty about not stopping, but can't see what value it would have added. Oh, and I have stopped in the past as a witness to accidents where it was obvious I was the only one who saw what happened.

I sincerely hope the drivers involved are Ok anyway, it was a nasty bang and the poor bugger in car X, who did precisely nothing wrong must have got the shock of their life, car went square into the drivers door too so I imagine they will have sustained a significant injury.

Not something you see every day, nasty.

If injuries likely id say you should have stopped. If a minor bump not such a big deal if others have already stopped

You should of stopped.

You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it
And when you dream I hope you can't sleep and you SCREAM about it
I hope your conscience EATS AT YOU and you can't BREATHE without it.

I would be very surprised if the other 2 cars that stopped would give an account different to that above.

It amazes me how many people still jump red lights intentionally or not.

HA...unlikely that.

Really hard to say if anyone was badly injured, I assume the driver who got t-boned probably was to be honest, I can't remember the car as it was dark and I wasn't really paying attention to that. It was some run of the mill small hatchback though so nothing of tank proportions.

That was kind of my thinking, me stopping would have meant more people milling around on a wet roundabout, in rush hour, in the dark and even more cars littered about the place getting in the way. I do wonder if it's something I should ring the five-oh about though as did get a pretty clear view of what happened.

If you can spare a couple of minutes, dial 101 and give the above account to the call handler - if it was a serious RTC that's being investigated by police, your evidence could be very helpful.

I'm going to do this I think.

Edit....just contacted them and left them my details. The accident was logged with them and they'll get in touch if need any further info.

That feels a bit better.

Normally it's logged with the police if there is an injury, or damage to road furniture. Expect a call.
