A strange thing happened to me today... Whilst driving through a built up area, I lifted off to slow for someone turning onto the road ahead and then when I went to accelerate again, nothing happened. The engine just sat there ticking over, as though the pedal was no longer connected! I managed to crawl forward and come to a stop. After turning off the engine and then restarting the car behaved perfectly and has continued to do so after driving 50+ miles.

Any ideas anyone?

I didn’t notice whether or not the M.I.L light was on, but this strikes me as ‘Limp Home Mode’.

It wasn't limp home mode, but I don't know what it was.

Gotta be throttle pot. Either loose connection to ECU from pot or bit of dirt on the track. If it happens again;

1. Change underware
2. Check plug that connects pot wires on top of the rocker cover.

My local dealer insists that the ignition amplifier can have the same effect but I am not entirely convinced.

If it is the throttle pot though they will cause a fault on the ECU that can be read off so a trip to a suitable equipped engineer can help you decide if it is the pot or not.
