European Driving Ideas Required

I’m seriously thinking of a little trip to the continent just for the pleasure of driving but have no idea of where to go. I’d like to go for about 4-5 days and need suggestions for a route that will include magnificent scenery, good driving conditions and a reasonable attitude to making progress.
I was considering the Eurohoon trip but there is not enough space for both myself and driving partner. I really like the idea of travelling through the Swiss Alps but I was under the impression that the Swiss are quite strict regarding ‘hooning’ etc. I also like the idea of an unrestricted autobahn although I tend to prefer corners and acceleration over terminal speed, so would happily omit this if it where not included in the ‘ideal’ route.
So any ideas people? I like to go at the end of September. And if anybody else would like to come for the whole or part of it they are more than welcome.

Are you sure? There was one space left and then Rods went and sold his car, so that's another.
If there isn't room, then I cannot rave about the Pyrenees enough. Beautiful.
Try a fast run down the French coast, along the Pyrenees, south of France, into Italy, then back across Alps!

Im driving to the Stelvio pass and then down to Modena, the Italian West coast, around the south coast of France and then up the western coast of France.
3 weeks worth though, leaving in a weeks time and not booking any accomodation! Gonna stay where we find.
Bought some good books yesterday on it and hoping to stay mostly in places with lots of character.

Just cranked up 1200 miles around France in the Tamora! Had a cracking time, probably did not drop below 90KM/h for the whole trip apart from through towns where I stuck to the 50km/h limit. Basically just stuck to yellow D roads and found the surfaces fast and easily able to achieve some quite high speeds. Avoided the N roads as we found a lot of speed traps!
French loved the car by the way! Had people running to waive at us, people chase us and ask for photo's, lots of claps and cheers, felt like I was some celebrity!
Obviously with a nice red rose engine snapping and crackling even doing 50km/h was great fun and so noisy! Could swear the engine got even louder on super 98!

Bugger - it looks like this trip will be pushed out to 9/10 - 13/10 as I work alongside my driving partner and we have a busy period at the start of October.
What will weather be like in Swixx Alps then?

ah - too bad Rob... Well, like most places, come October u just have to take yr chances....see the meeting photos on the British Car website 2003 vs. 2002 - pray for 2002 weather! But if you're still passing thru this way later, give me a shout. I'm sure Swissgriff500 would be pleased to see you in Tichino as well (beautiful place too).
