Should i or shouldnt i....CLK320
Discussion
Chaps.
A recent headache has left me motorless and low on funds (Lower than I would like shall we say).
I have in the past 10 years or so been drawn to lower mileage performance saloons but fancied a CLK320 (old shape).
what are these like with 100K+ on them?
What are they worth as many range from a few hundred to a few thousand quid.
Anything I should look for in particular?
Are they better, worse or nothing in it between these and the new shape (which I could possibly stretch too if I waited a few months)
Cheers for any advice or pointers!

Just sold my X Reg clk 320 convertible after 4 years, These cars like to be regularly driven, Engine and box very good the V6 is a joy, but electrics can cause a few niggles especially if left for too long or with a poor battery.
The other thing to keep an eye out for are the cats, there are 4 on these cars and can start to break up when older. My rear started to rattle which I could have replaced for a few hundered pounds from Euro Car Parts. I actually opened the rear boxes and removed the rear cats and had no further issues, and it made no noticable difference to the mot emission level. Another issue can be corrosion, I have seen these cars riddled with rust, some with the whole rear wheel arch missing then you will find another of the same age with no corrosion problems at all. Best to take someone who knows where to look with these cars though.

It has to be the new shape. The old shape looks very dated nowadays and the price differential from the 209 is not very great. With the 209 you'll have a car that was (I think) still being sold new in 2009.
V6 is probably good but I've not driven one. The smaller engines are supposedly disappointing. I had the V8 which, in my opinion, is worth the slightly extra thirst. Maybe I was lucky but I had 4 years of servicing costs on my 500 and little else (a minor gearbox fluid leak).

The 55s are a bargain - buy one and do not piss around around with weedy V6s. I just bought a near mint 55 for £8K and saw another beauty for £7K. V6 is probably good but I've not driven one. Hows the 55 you just brought?
Could you do a report/review on it?
Too quiet but otherwise fab..........its currently having one or two bits sorted (as planned) and I will do a brief report with pics when I get it back, probably over the weekend.Could you do a report/review on it?
Only done one trip so far, down to Dover Castle last weekend, and got a very creditable 24.3 mpg so dead chuffed given that we were the fastest car on the road both ways.........
