I thinking a of changing paths although I'm 34 now so maybe a bit late.

Really hate what I'm doing now rubbish job, prospects and cash I want out.

I've been looking for something else pretty much sending off for anything and eveything if the money was ok or would be once trained and i liked the sound of the work. Im really willing train and learn to get something new if i had to. I no i can turn my hand to loads of things and do a good job i just need that break - no luck so far. The search continues.

I'm now tempted to do a open university course so at least I'm qualified to change direction. Are they worth doing. Do the qualifications you get actually mean anything or are they a tin pot waste of time ?

If anyone has any experience of them could you give me your thoughts please.

A simple answer to a complex issue isn't really going to help I'm afraid. Your approach seems to have a lack of direction, thus your chances of embarking on the wrong course of education could be high. I would certainly commend narrowing down your options based upon your requirements from a career and then investigate the competencies required and decide which you have the best chance of success at. Any outstanding competencies needed should be your guide for further learning. Good luck!

I was just trying to keep a open mind to everything and anything to be honest.
That was more of looking for a job front in a cast more nets more chance of catching a fish type of way.

I do agree if I did do a course then I'd have to something I could do well and hopefully enjoy at the same time.

I'd rather work in engineering of some sort not really bothered what kind. As I think I'm best suited to that sort of thing I'm a pretty practical type of person and I'm already qualified motor vehicle tech. Although I moved up the ladder in a office job which is pretty much as far as I can go. I want better for myself.

Engineering degree's a pretty far away from practical, theoretical and analytical mostly. Big maths. Are there no vocational course ran by colleges you can do part time? As said in the first reply, you really need to know a specific idea of what you're wanting to do and become before you decide on a training path, otherwise you might find it's money down the drain.
