Fold-up Bikes

I won't lie! I would tease all that rode these things but now I'm commuting, it's awesome!

I got my hands on an Oyama St. James fold-up for a clearance price of £220 including delivery to Gibraltar and although it's a little on the heavy side, it's sturdy enough, contains bullet-proof hub gearing and folds up small enough to fit in the back of my BMW 1 series. :thumbsup:

I know the following point doesn't apply to many people but the biggest bonus is the ability to fold it up at the Gibraltar / Spain border where I live. The border control police regularly stop and search every cyclist / scooter that passes by however if you can carry the bike in folded form, you can go through the pedestrian border queue which is always much faster. For example, yesterday I saved myself over an hour of my time where I would otherwise be queueing in a car or normal bike.

Ridden a Brompton, and thought it was a very useable and well thought out piece of equipment. Stowed under a desk and went on a train no problem as well, combined with a good ride it's about all you can want from a folder.
