Good afternoon guys.

I'm looking to buy a set of larger alloys as a Christmas present for a friends 2009 Mini Cooper. It's currently running 15 inch wheels and i'm looking for some 17's in black which will go well with the pepper white paintwork.

The problem i'm having is that some wheels are advertised as being suitable for all Mini's, and some are listed as being only suitable upto 2006. Was there a change in the 4 X 100 bolt pattern (disregarding the 5 bolt countryman) or wil they all fit...?

Oh and if anybody has a suitable set available, please let me know thumbup

Paul

The 4 x 100 bolt pattern is the same on all MINIs (except the Countryman), but the bolt size was increased in July 2006, meaning that some earlier wheels won't fit later cars.

Why are you wanting to move them from 15" to 17"?
It'll ruin the ride.

It'll change the ride, but it won't ruin it..... Unless you know something BMW don't?

Cheers for the details, that makes sense.

Many thanks

BMW offer the larger wheels for thpse who want the imagine. That doesn't mean they're the wheels to choose if you want better handling.

Lol... You're assuming of course that this particular 20 year old girl bought her Mini Cooper to try and shave a few seconds off her commute to work. Be honest, most mini's are driven by girls, and most don't give a fig how they handle, they're sold and bought on the image primarily. They drive just the same as every other small modern car and the wheel size doesn't make any real difference.

Oh & just for reference, the mini challenge race cars drive with 18 inch alloys. Are they wrong too?

Cheers

Paul

My Mrs 08 Coopers S Conv had 17s and the ride was atrocious. Replaced the Pirelli Euphoria run-flats for Hankook V12 Evo non run-flats and it was transformed. It now rides almost as well as my 03 Cooper on 15" Kuhmo non run-flats. Grip, especially wet grip improved massively too.
