Will used GT86s bring down the price of AE86s?
Discussion
I was idly browsing quick FR driver's cars earlier as part of my ongoing quest for something GT86-like in a few years time when I have some money. Having never considered an AE86 I was shocke to see how expensive they are for what is a fairly ordinary 80s hatchback - are they really so expensive just because of that cartoon drift film?
This led me to wonder - now that Toyota has finally released a proper spiritual successor, will it put the kibosh on AE86 prices as secondhand ones find their way onto the market?

There is so, so, so much more history to the AE86 then just initial D. It always puzzles me when people associate initial D with the car's fame, the series is a product of the cars fame, not the other way around.
I'm genuinely intrigued now. Would you mind sharing a brief summation for those of us who only know of the car well enough to associate it with "he done gone sideways"? Thanks!mat777 said:

The main reasons the AE86 is popular are its rallying heritage, that's why the Irish love them so much, and do a search for the AE86 N2 race series on YouTube, that's the main reason it's so popular in Japan. Initial D and all the drifting stuff came afterwards. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
