When they say high spec do they mean HC?. The colour would be a major problem for me. Think resale. If U could get it £1500 cheaper and get a re- spray maybe.

The darker purple was stunning.
This colour, the dark purple that was used in original brochures, and finishes like rosso pearl, and some other shades of red, are nearly impossible to judge from a photo.

I always hated the dark purple, until I saw one at Fernhurst a couple of years after buying mine.
I could not believe how nice it looked.
I was seriously tempted to try and own two!

Seems to have series 1 features and a top lit rear plate, all a bit odd on a '96 car, no?

Not been myself. As has been said, bit of an awful colour.
There are a few in the classifieds like that. Poor exterior colour, and sometimes dire interior too. Its why they are still up for sale, weeks after being posted.

I did think of snapping up one other, but the same old questions rose: How much is a respray? How much to change interior? Will I see this money back some sell time? Will I even be able to sell when the time comes, because of a colour change?

I agree. The problem is that very little is selling (even Fernies said this when I went to see them). You have good genuine examples that are too much given today's economic climate. Then there are really dire examples that are silly money. I went to see the Chim below and it is one of the worst examples I have seen cosmetically. The seller seems to think that because it has had one owner, it makes it a valuable car, but you would need to plough about £5k into it. Combined with his silly asking price, you would never see your money back.

To be fair Fernhurst have some nice cars and have one just out of my budget. I have considered stretching the old budget, but I really have to draw the line somewhere. I really would like a 500, but would consider a 450...I'm sure something will pop out of the woodwork.

Agreed about the darker purple. They have a Griff in that colour at Fernies at the moment. It really is stunning. I wondered if this was an inaccurate photograph as this looks... well... pink!

High spec because of power steering I suppose, but only important to some people not all, I don't get the limited edition bit either, pink?
I think '96' was the change over time for front and rear face lifts, hence early front and later rear.
At the end of the day it's to much money, maybe it's something to do with the other cars that are keeping it company at garage. I would feel a bit uncomfortable looking at the cheapest motor in the place.

I hear ya Chris. There are some pretty neglected examples out there. It's a shame to see a TVR just sitting there not getting sold and enjoyed, all because the seller will not sell at a realistic price, given the givens.

As you say, something will pop out of the woodwork eventually.

PAS is pretty important to me, not crucial. They aren't light to steer at slow speeds. There's no point looking like daddy cool with the roof down, if you're pulling a face like you're having dump whilst trying to steer the thing! As for the garage, if they could do one of these Lambos at the same price, I'd be pretty chuffed!

My five year old daughter said 'Wow, I like the pink one daddy'... I'm no Ken and the Mrs is no Barbie (unfortunately), so based on that, the colour would definitely have to go. It would ruin what street cred I have left....laugh

Hi Chris,
Have you driven PAS and non-PAS back to back? A personal thing but I think that the non powered is better to drive having tried both back to back. Stationary tight parking is the only time the steering feels heavy. Any movement it should be fine.

I enquired about the purple one on Thursday. I was up front, saying I was not going to buy on the day but would within a week after seeing a few, but the dealer refused a test drive. Put me off a little, and I've just bought a local one instead. There was no warranty either, "sold as seen".

As for the colour.... If it was mint, I might have bee able to put up with it.

Not back to back, but I've driven quite a few now and feel that I definitely prefer to PAS tbh.

late 97 early 98 was the face lift period that one with sunken rear number plate rings alarm bells to me.
