I just noticed the current comments about TVRs in the Top Gear magazine "New Car Guide".
Top Gear said:
[About TVR]Awards to date - Didn't Peter Wheeler's dog beat BMW's Chris Bangle to a design award recently, or did we just dream it?

[About the Tamora]Enough to require a spare pair of 'travel pants'

[About the Sagaris]Don't be fooled by - the number plates - it's closer to a racer

[About the T400/T440R]It doesn't get much more extreme that this

[About the Typhon]Alternative test drives - Audi R8

Did you hear what Clarkson said about the old Speed 12,"TVR have done the unthinkable, they've harnessed nature". Then TVR decided to stop producing easily the most frightening TVR ever.

During last weeks Christmas DVD shoot whilst doing a sound comparison of a SEAC and Sagaris.
"the SEAC sounds like a couple of large women wrestling...........in a pool of mud"
and that was before Neil hit the loud pedal

"If this car was a dessert it would have a sparkler in it. If it was music, it would be Rock 'n' Roll"

(It was during a Top Gear piece about the last of the Countachs and the launch of the Diablo)

Incidentally, has anyone noticed Car magazine demoted the entire TVR range from five red stars to three black, in almost all models?
CAR and TVR simply don't like each other. I stopped buying the rag until recently when they finally decided to print their first pro-Trevor article in feckin' ages (Le Mans trip), I then made the mistake of buying the following issue where they had demoted all models in the rear of the mag. Needless to say I won't buy it again until things change (plus I don’t think it’s a particularly good magazine anyway). I doubt you'll get a response to your letter either.

Anyway, more JC quotes:

Relative to other TVRs, the Tamora is a compromise in the sense that being bitten in half by a shark is not quite as extreme as being swallowed whole.

User friendly”, however, is a relative term. And let’s be honest, a “user-friendly” TVR is a bit like a “user friendly” atomic bomb.

The girl next to the BMW driver is probably wearing an Alice band, whereas the girl next to the TVR driver probably isnt wearing any knickers.

The Z3M is quick, the Boxster quicker still but both get blitzed by the TVR Chimaera in its relentless pursuit to head-butt the horizon.

Let us not forget JC's DVD where he 'an(den)ounced' the TVR 350C with a "lets call it THE VALHALLA"
He proceeded to grin like (as) an idiot all through the test with much whooping and wheeing before giving honours to the VX220.
Well fair enough the VX is light powerful and handles.
Hmm.
The Tiv, or any modern Tiv, will make you wet your pants and squeal under the same circumstances, as in having enough run off so that it does't matter.
JC's quest was for fun, however.
Didn't see him squeal like a piggy in Aunty Vauxhall.

The Le Mans issue was the outgoing one for the previous editor as hes now off editing a stateside mag.

I'm told new editor is Jason Barlow, ex of C4 and the bad Top Gear before JC was tempted back to Aunty Beeb. Never liked Barlow's presenting or writing ability.

Never buy Car it as I always find it a crap read compared to others, but the TVR Le Mans article tempted me that month.

All credit to Clarkson he does write his own scripts, including those for his off piste programmes such as Meet the Neighbours etc.

His articles in the Sunday Times show why he is the most prominent motoring writer in the UK.
