Escort RS Cosworth

I have a friend who owns a RS specialist in Southampton.
I pop in there to say hello and have a chat most weeks as they really are nice people. (Father and son team). I have said to them a couple of times that if they ever heard of a top example of an Escort Cosworth coming up for sale then to let me know.
I waited 5 years for the call to come.
After speaking to the owner it became aparent he did not want to sell the car but he needed some money for a joint business venture.
I offered him sensible money but he said he needed a while to think about it and to see if there was any other way he could raise the funds.
After coming back from work being away for 3 weeks I called him.
It was mine
But the stipulation was that if ever I think about selling it he has to have first refusal.
Furry muff.
It is a 1993 model year Big Turbo Lux in Pacifica Blue.
It is totally standard apart from the engine which has been professionally sorted with
3" Mongoose stainless exhaust
-31 actuator
048 motorsport fuel pump
L8 closed loop chip for stage 3
Bosch 803 (dark green) injectors
WRC head gasket
Rolling roaded at Torque of the Devil at 330bhp and 335lbs/ft torque.
Its only covered 44000 miles and never seen a wet road.
We had it up on the ramps the other week and it is as clean underneath as it is on top.
All I have had done was to put a new clutch cable on it and replace all the plastic clips that run the length underneath securing the brake pipes etc.
Just had it MOT'd and taxed and just using it when the weather allows.
I can't believe how many people when they see it give me a thumbs up and just show general appreciation for it.

Absolutely amazing cars.
As mentioned already, these have aged so well. Comparing it to the Audi Quattro and Lancia integrale. This is doing far better in the looks department.
Wish my father still had his, it was also a 1993 big turbo lux in Pacifica.
Cherish this car, it will only go up in value and its getting harder and harder for clean. standard examples to be seen.

Looks are very subjective, besides the integrale was based on a car that came out in 1979 compared to the Escort which was launched in 1990/1 so it's no surprise to some it's aging better.

Though when you compare this to the Sierra RS Cosworth 4x4 of the year previous, it looks far newer. The Sierra will always look 80's (and I think they're all beautiful).Lovely car OP, seeing this sort of thing just makes my day!
