My gf's car has gone pop and we need to find her another estate urgently.
We've settled on a very nice 05 '54 Audi B6 estate, 91k with fsh. I seem to recall the 1.9 130 PD engine was bullet proof which is a bonus, sadly I haven't heard such good things about the CVT transmission. She can only drive an auto though.
The cambelt was changed at 76k miles and so was the CVT transmission oil.
Safe bet for £5k before haggling?

Or would this thread be better in the VAG forum?

Do a search for Audi CVT first.

I did, before buying an A4 Cabrio with CVT, or rather before not buying...

No. HTH.

Find a quattro version with the proper, more reliable auto (tiptronic)

and yes, the PD130 is pretty much bombproof. Just look out for boost leaks.

Do you mean a 6 cylinder 2.5TDI? They like a drink! I would have been happier with the 4 pot 130.

Bought an 04 manual avant last year from a dealer for a bit more than your paying, but cant fault it.

Gets very good economy if driven sensible but i'd definately recommend a revo remap, transformed mine!

Sounds a lot to me, I've just sold my b6 04 a4 Quattro 130 for 2.8k, I'd be aiming at 4-4.5k,
But it was a lovely car

No, they made a quattro version with the same 1.9 TDi PD130 engine as the FWD one. They may not be as many out there but they do crop up now and again. Oh, and they handle a lot better than the FWD versions so it's double bonus.

Otherwise you'll find plenty auto BMW 320d tourings out there for 5k.

Would it not be worth a punt with the 'quentin wilson' warranty?

Yep, that's down to the fact that they're so good that people tend to keep them.

Whereas there are plenty multitronic Audis being sold, usually as the owner is fed up and/or bankrupt due to that 'box...

Seriously, avoid. You have been warned!

Many many question marks over those warranties, and even if they do pay out, you've still got a broken car.

Also, will they pay out more than the car is worth or just write it off like an insurance company and send you the money for a new one?

Either way, bad news.

A mate of mine works for Audi service department, he told me to avoid the cvt box like the plague!

He also advise against the 2.5tdi engine, the 1.9 is crude but reliable
