Hi

Well today was the last day out for my Cerbera untill spring 2013, the old girl is now 15 and i think its time to stop running her through the winter months. So as of december it will be SORN untill next spring.

But i wont be covering it up under a dust sheet on the optimate, i will be using the time to resolve a few nigggles i have, refurbing the wish bones and chassis felting. Ive been putting it off far to long, but this year ive been inspired by Spongy, Scotty, and Peter ( just to mention a few ) and all there hard work on there cerbs.

But today was about driving, and we had a blast, lighting up the tyres and turning heads smile ..... all i can say is roll on spring 2013 as im going to miss driving my cerb.

Me too, SORNing both V8 cars at the end of the month, and used both (however briefly) this weekend.

Took the 928 to a 928 meet yesterday and all good, apart from the appalling weather (only the third time I've used it this year).

The excuse to drive the Cerb today was to test the dual gauge recently returned by SpeedyCables. So far so good, but the real test will be when it gets really hot: will the rack and pinion in the temp gauge slip again, will the oil pressure gauge start to leak?

The real shock though was to be reminded how bad the rear diff bush is, comically bad!

As you prob know tis best to do it online, so that you can print off and keep the email confirmation (should anything go wrong with the DVLA)

Mine is going on SORN a little late this year like yours on the 1st it will be off the road and time for shinny bits to be fitted smile.

Winter is tinker time any way i get no fun in cold sweats driving TVR's this time of year already seen a local Tiv crashed and damaged so it puts me off partly for that reason alone.

I had a scary moment on a duel carrageway about 2 weeks ago in the damp. The cerb snaped side ways and i only just saved it ( totally my fault for not driving to the condtions )... Ive seen a few Tivs come to a sad end around this time of year over the years. But this will be the first time ive Sorn mine over the winter months.

For those who are going to run theres through the next couple of months, just take it easy, we dont want to lose any more.

Look forward to seeing what you get up to with her.

I'm keeping mine on the road this winter but she will probably only see a few outings when the weather allows it.

Had a bit of a bum squeeze the other weekend, driving back from a meal out in low temps. The lack of grip was quite shocking.

Also sorning mine. Tax runs out end of dec. will be cleaned and waxed before then and covered over. Also got a few jobs to do.

Check the shim clearances.
Fit short induction
Set my suspension abit softer on the dampers
Refurbish rear drop links
Window rattle

I'm sure ill find more.
All them without the luxury of a garage.

Peter have you any of your 4.5 air box brackets left ?

I need all 4 as I'm swapping over to 4.5 induction as soon as I've sorced all the parts.

Had a look under mine on the ramps. Quite a lot of waxoyl on it. Made my eyes very sore just being near the stuff. So not sure I'd wanna get too close and personal with it. But am tempted to dig out a pit in my garage to really clean up the chassis. Couldn't see any rust though. All the best for the winter project. I hope to be driving mine and running it in before spring!

Peter... Pm sent. Many thanks

Gazzab, for what it would cost to dig a pit , line it with bricks and make good, would nt it be cheaper to buy a good second hand 4 post lift..... Buts thats if you ve got room for one ?

I thought I wanted a pit first but to get a proper job done and make sure you are not knee deep in oily water is not a very cheap job at all - in fact you could probably get a new lift for similar money.
It's all about the headroom in the garage though yes

4 post would be fine as garage has lots of headroom BUT there are massive wooden beams etc so it would only get 5 foot off the ground at most.

Similar here - but still easier than a pit I think. Either that or cut some of the beams out and brace them in a different way biggrin

Very true - pits are not easy to work in for extended periods of time, i stripped my chassis earlier in the year and my back/neck ached for days after, also areas around the wheel arches are not easy to reach from a pit.

There is this company that make chairs for ramp with only a low rise, they get old car seats that recline and then fit castors to the runners, seems like a good idea.
Pretty sure the Clever Trevors (see what I did there?) round he could fabricate the same. yes
