Good Grief,

Friday night I was driving down the A4540 on the way to Moseley, its stop start traffic and no ones going anywhere, for once I'm in the middle lane and I thank my lucky stars as some wk3r goes straight into the back of someone in the right hand lane. No idea what speed he was doing but hit the stationary car in front with such force he shunted the car in front of him. Then as traffic clears in the middle lane (just in front of me) he pulls out and shoots off. The Mrs got his plate and I pulled over to exchange details and offer to be a witness.

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. The poor bugger who was shunted 1st had only been driving 4 months.

A few things about this shocked me, a) the speed this guy was carrying in stop start traffic and b) the police only attend if there's been an injury.

I hope they find the guy but I'm guessing the car was stolen. Grrr!

Nicest thing to do would be to write a letter for the new driver to show his insurer that states that he did absolutely nothing wrong etc. probably won't stop him from being screwed but you never know.

Good on you for stopping and giving your details.

I'm currently fighting to get my no claims and £800 excess back following a non faulter in August but no witnesses bothered stopping or coming forward after so the other company are digging their heels in - the other driver hasn't even given them a statement.

Feel for the young driver, certainly not what you need - and if it is a stolen/uninsured driver, I guess it will go down as a fault claim. Poor sod.

Stolen or uninsured. Unfortunately it's a problem that's getting bigger.

Top marks for stopping. I was side swipped by an artic doing a last minute booth change a few years back on the QE2 bridge. All apologetic at the time and admitting fault. That soon changed though. Luckily for me the nice chap in the Saab behind took the time to stop and pass on all his details. Makes all the difference.

I know in a normal accident the police are only interested if a serious injury but this is a hit and run, a crime took place so I can't understand why they were not interested. Although not at all surprised.

He'd have to claim off his own insurance, but not sure that counts as a 'fault claim' does it?

I pulled in to let them know we got the plate and check everyone was OK. Guy was shaken but rang us and thanked us for stopping and passing on what we had.

I hope that someone would do the same for me smile

Nope, lol

Love people who do that, then get bent out of shape when someone changes lane, "But its MY LANE!! Grrr" sheesh, get a life and a clue.

People in stationary / slow moving traffic in lane change shocker.

Quick call the Police....

Spanking into the back of a stationary car due to zero spatial awareness at >50mph. That's a different type of special needs driver.

Our valeter was knocked off his push bike this morning, the driver didn't see him on the roaundabout, teh car driver got out to check he was ok and suggested that he would call an ambulance however he just wanted to move his car first, he got in and drove off.

The valeter got his number plate.

I had this, took 18 months to get sorted. Mainly because my insurer didn't bother to get the CCTV footage that was available

A lad I know had the same happen to him. Sat at traffic lights going straight on, car pulls next to him, no indication and as the lights change he just swings left and wipes him out.

All apologetic and stting himself basically. The cyclist got a call from the drivers company director apologising, they offered to repair or replace the bike and offered him a gift as an apology.

They obviously spoke to their insurers and were told not to admit fault because a day or two later he called them to find out more and the receptionist told him they would not be discussing the matter and he would need to contact his insurer (expensive bike I think?).

We are 2 months on and they are just denying everything, no witnesses makes it very difficult!
