Quick question.

I have found out the C4 I have just purchased was subject to a recall due to faulty tailgate wiring. Is it morally wrong to request Citroen do this on my 4th hand car?

Nope, phone them up and say your car had not had the recall information. Mine is an 08 bmw and having some recall work done along with the security update.

Absolutely not IMO. It will cost them the same no matter who's owned it in it's life, or where it's been serviced, or what miles/age it is. Recall is a recall, the manufacturers put the money aside to do the cars they expect to get in.

My little Fiat had a fuel take changed under recall. I have no idea how many owners that car had had, but it was a lot.

They may have a time limit as to when the recall can be "redeemed". Take the cracking sub-frame issue on the E46 M3. BMW will only fix the problem if the car is under 10 years old.

Much better just to talk to your local dealer.

As regards your original question, the number of owners makes no difference. They recall the faulty car not a faulty owner... smile

I went into the local dealer (I collected a new boot lock) and they had a look to see if the car had had the recall. It hadn't and they said they would do it this week.....at this point I get very excited smile until they noticed a little pink dot on the file meaning my car was excluded frown

I think I know why, but I left playing dumb and am awaiting a call.

Don't leave us hanging - why do you think your car would be excluded?

My fiancee had a seven/eight year old second-hand Polo and the clutch failed. She got towed to the local VW garage who spotted the fact that it hadn't had pedal box recall work done. She had a whole new box and clutch etc fitted free of charge. It was the only time in her ownership that it went to a main dealer. smile
