I just started Hill Climbing my old TVR 2500M, seriously good fun should have started years ago!

Anyhow, I would like to get a roll cage fitted, can anyone recommend a good fabricator / fitter, I'm in Hitchin on the Herts / Beds border...

Cheers
Warwick

Roll centre in St Ives did mine (http://racing.cookieonline.net). About an hour away from you I guess? Expensive and took a couple of months, but very comprehensive.

Hi Warwick
I got mine made by Custom Cages in Daventry and would definitely recommend them.

Custom Cages have the worst customer service of any company I have ever come across . I know many people who have been left high and dry by them.

Andy Robinson is who I would recommend. Proper job and will stick to agreed deadlines etc and get it right first time.

Have dealt with roll-centre,alright,same experience with custom cages and poor customer service. People have told me that another company near cambridge is ok,i think they are called fabricage, used to advertise in motoring news, dont forget safety devices as well.

Custom cages and poor customer service seem to go hand in hand. They did the install on my 911. Quality of welding absolutely superb. We wanted some slight alterations to their standard cage and supplied drawings detailing exactly what we wanted. Thankfully before collecting the car I persuaded them to send me some pictures. They had forgotten to put in two braces we wanted along with the horizontal bars to locate the harnesses. A bit of an argument pursued until I pointed out that in one of the pictures it showed the two additional braces we wanted but they had forgotten to weld them in.

Wrong end of t'country, for you lad, but I recommend "Protection & Performance" in Barnoldswick, Lancs. As well as motorsport cages, they do expedition, police and military work and best of all, they built that extraordinary Landy with a remote control driver on the roof, for the new James Bond film:

Nice people too!

I had the same experience with Custom cages. Never once did they return my phone calls and then they left my screen in and so covered it in welding spatter.

Never again for me.

Wow, really shocked to hear of the bad service from CC - I wonder if it's a new thing?
My late Dad was in partnership with Roger Dowson many years ago and anyon interested in British Touring cars should know Roger and when I built my firenza I asked him to do the cage and he said no, he got all his done at CC.
I had great service from them and the cage is great. but it was 6ish years ago.

Speak to Steve Stripe at http://www.xworkss.com/contact.htm

He was amazing fitted a custom cage kit of mine after another so called fitter was so out of his depth,
he came to the rescue and now will not go anywhere else.

He also made the olympic torches!!!

He can fit or make any cage.
