Tyre Valve Caps

My wife wants to buy me a few AM products for my car and the AM Winged valve covers look nice. Does anyone know if they are suitable for wheels fited with TPMS. Thought I read somewhere that you should only use plastic caps ?

I've AM metal valve caps on my V8V, but they are not 'winged'

I've had the AM "wings' valve caps on my 2007 V8 Vantage since almost new and they don't interfere with the TPMS system.

The reason the metal dust caps are not recommended is the reaction between the metal of the cap and the valve. They can almost weld themselves together that is why plastic caps recommended.
In addition particularly in Spain the kids steal the caps, if they are common plastic they get left. I carry a grotty plastic set for Euro travel to avoid this problem.

I had the same concern that the TPMS may be affected so phoned Nicholas Mee and reassured that all ok, so bought from them. By the way they look a bit big when you first put them on, but then v smart.

As mentioned above, they'll get thieved! Little scrotes will nick anything

I keep a little waxoyl on the threads of the valve stem, it keeps every think nice and free. My other car is nearly 7 years old now and still on the original TPM valves. I do still check the tyres on all my cars every few weeks with a proper tyre pressure guage.

My original plastic ones failed eventually, but Trinity kindly gave me some metal replacements at the recent meet there.

The guy from trinity put some vaseline on the threads to stop the cap cold welding to the threads.

They can't weld themselves on that tight if little kids can get them off
