One leaves - another one enters....V8S
Discussion
Monday should see me re-enter the fold of S ownership when I take delivery of a well-used V8S.
8 years ago I started my TVR experiance when I bought a storm grey S2. I owned it for 3 years before moving onto a Griff 500. This I also owned for 3 years. Lack of use (working in London) meant it was an expensive ornament! So for the last 2 years I have been Tiv'less.
By good fortune a friend of mine has a rather large collection of vehicles, many are in an 'interesting' condition and I have just relieved him of his V8S.
In monza red, with a tired tan interior it doesn't sound that great but it's not normal! About 2 years ago a 4.3 litre crossbolted block was substituted, with Griff 500 heads and some tuning. Exact spec to be confirmed later.
My plans? Well I don't work in London now - I own a bodyshop so:
- BW T5 gearbox (original SD1 is struggling)
- Respray in some dark red metallic.
- New carpets and interior spruce up
- New rear window
I'll take pictures of the beast this weekend, and keep folks updated with the plans....

Andy, good to see you back in the TVR fold, how is life going now you're out of the IT rat race?
Well I'm happy. I'm never going to be a millionaire but after a very stressful 18months startup period we have settled down nicely.
Will we see her ready for the City Snetterton track day next year?
In 7 years of organising the City Snett track day I think I've only been able to stick my car on track twice! Every other time I've brought my race car and suffered a problem. Perhaps 2005 will be the chance to stick a TVR back on the track.

Good news, was this red S a scottish car about two years ago
. Only ask as I seem to recall being offered one with a 4.3 mit roll bar about then.
Good to see you returning to the fold in the right car, a tweaked V8S is much more fun than the 500, maybe not as fast a racing M5 (IC from your profile) but still more fun IMHO
