Ma5da have slpit from the BRSCC, so the BRSCC have decided to orgainse an MX5 championships for themselves. Lots of speculation regarding the real reasons for going seperate ways but obviously neither party is keen to divulge all of the details. Max5 is continuing the same as last year.
There were over a hundred mk1 MX5s that raced with Ma5da in 2012 and being at the budget end of racing I expect whichever is perceived to provide the best value for drivers will be the one that survives. Tough job for both organisers but potentially alot of money for whoever gets it right due to the sheer number of cars.

I dont think its as simple as that - are they really going to hire the circuits themselves, along with all the other necessary infrastructure and then try to fill the day with other content in addition to their own series? ie they are still going to have to work in partnership with another club.

They are using a surrogate MSA permitting club so that they can keep their championship status as (I think I am right with this) a new club has to run for 3 years before it can apply for championship status. Sorry, I find them duller than dishwater. Unless you shoehorn a LS1/3/6/7 under the front.
But hats off to anyone who finds enjoyment in racing them - it's what the sport is all about - diversity.
I too read that the BRSCC had tried to "steal" what had been built up to become a well supported series.
They are really revenue desperate these days. There was a time when they were the club to be in, with many burgeoning championships full to the brim if not overflowing.
Through many years of mis management and pissing off their customers, they are dwindling to a shadow of what was once great.
I wish the Mazda gang the best of British (with a Japanese accent!!) in setting up their own club for their own benefit, and hope that they get MSA recognition for it in the end, rather than being part of a club that just takes your money, and some more of it, and maybe that last penny that you had, and gives you stuff all back.
Motorsport needs a BIG shakeup in the UK. There are too many factions of the same thing diluting what could be a thriving grass roots scene, something that people want to go and see on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon. Something marketable to bring in the crowds as entertainment, where the competitors are valued and the punters flocking in to watch provide the tracks revenue.

This is exactly the point of mx5 racing (well Ma5da at least). In three years of racing with them I don’t think I’ve met anyone who actually cares for mx5s especially. They just happen to be cheap, rear wheel drive and reliable.But hats off to anyone who finds enjoyment in racing them
What really matters is the racing on track which is more competitive and closer than anything else out there at this level/cost. It's bound to be with such big grids.
I would much prefer to race something slow but mega competitive against drivers like Rob Boston/Chrissy Palmer/Tom Roche etc than power round in a procession with seconds between cars while Johnny Chequebook drives off into the distance or race in some catch all class system where you don’t know if it’s your driving or car that make you fast.
I’ve watched some awfully dull (but fast) races that shared meetings with us.
Nothing beats going 2/3 abreast into the same corner every lap or bump drafting each other downs the straights to get away.
UK club motorsport is fantastic, but a complete mess. So many championships have something or other going on in the background which take the shine off the fun stuff, the racing.
Both championships have now released there provisional calendars for next season. BRSCC perhaps not unexpectedly seem to have a much better selection of circuits.

Have either released registration/entry fees, tv coverage and hospitality details yet? Are the BRSCC meetings triple headers like the Ma5da racing ones?
The BRSCC calender looks better but the only difference that would bother me is Donington over Pembrey (although Ma5da racing are doing a quadruple header at Pembrey). Silverstone in an Mx5 is a bit boring tbh and I'd prefer Combe to Anglesey so the Ma5da racing calendar isn't really that bad.
Will be interested to see how the fees and packages compare.
