I'm doing a full front brake rebuild on my e36 m3 and want to replace the bleed nipples with stainless ones, but i'm struggling to get a definitive sizing for them. Also, i'd like to upgrade them to stainless, can anyone recommend somewhere that does them?

"What size nipples?" would also have been a good title to your thread.

You're not helping you know.

Bmw want 12 quid each for basic zinc plated ones and gsf don't carry them.

I think you want these,

http://www.pro-bolt.com/stainless-steel/stainless-...

I have some old'uns knocking around at home but will have to locate and measure them to confirm.

Those look bob on, but mine are about 32mm long, so they may be too short?

The ones I have will be the same as yours, but it's the length of the threaded protion that is the important bit.

I need a set of new ones for the calipers on my CSL, do you think these will fit 100%?

I'd rather fit a set of stainless ones than another set of std ones.

Ah, that's worth knowing, cheers. Got mine on the coffee table in front of me, i'll measure the threaded bit.

E36 M3 and E30 run the same part # for the nipples, E46 CSL's do not share the same part # so I don't know, but an educated guess would say, no, they'll be different.

Take one out and measure it.

Thread length is about 11 mm, overall body length is 31mm and bolt is 7mm (from memory).

I'm going to quite a bit of fuss to get the brakes absolutely spot on, stuff like this seems worth doing while i've got them apart.

A bit of research suggest that E46 spec is M7 x 1.0 x32mm.

Most of the stainless replacements i have seen are the same but 29mm in length, though I wonder if the threaded portion is the same length, but the overall length is shorter.

I presume the Pro-Bolt stuff fits ok?

I too am looking at replacing the bleed nipples with stainless versions on my E36 M3 Evo.

Thanks,
Neil
