What motor club...?

Go on then - vote for your own I guess...
There's an extensive list of clubs on the MSA site nearby. I've always fancied doing a night scatter etc, and my Dad is a Mountain leader, good on the maps etc so I reckon we'd make a good team.
Having tried a couple of Auto-solos last year I'd also like to do some skidding about in car parks too
I live between Leeds and Selby, only a few miles from the bases of De-lacy and Trackrod clubs. Wakefield is also not far. Other clubs such as Ilkley 'appear' to have much more going on, bit more modern etc.
I've tried emailing various people but I'll be brutally honest that a club secretary telling me how much a fun bunch they are is no guarantee - so some personal opinions please!

Hi Simon
I will give Ilkley & District the thumbs up
I joined 34 years ago when I was 17 driving a Mini 1275GT
and still do the odd event now in my S Type Jaguar.
Just wish I had the right car (or spare cash) to have a competitive car
but it never stops me having a go
It is always fun and a great crowd in IDMC
Cheers

I'm in Wakefield.
We have a marshalling section who are out regularly, organise PCTs and auto tests plus have a large competitive section, mostly into rallying but a couple of us venture onto the circuits as well. Just fielded a 2 car team on the RAC.
Wednesday nights at Parklands Hotel from about 9 pm if you want to come and talk about anything except for Motorsport as a rule.

I've been in ilkley for six years now, I try and get out to the Wednesday evening events when I can. They usually run one a month, Car trials in the summer, 12 cars or scatters in the darker months. They also do lots of auto tests and trials at weekends, plus the jubilee rally and various 2 wheeled events. I tend not to go to the social gatherings, mainly as I need to prioritise my time and prefer to do the active ones.
Other clubs worth looking at are York who do a lot of autotests and Beverley who are very much a rally club, I think they do a number of 12 cars. There's also rotating ferrets who seem to get involved with scatters and marshalling, slaithwaite who also run scatters. I heard alwoodly run 12 cars, must remember to check this out.
I'm sure you would find any one of them welcoming
