Before the real popularity of the internet I managed to keep a Golf VR6 for 8 years.
I now find I struggle to keep a car for more than 8 months.

Is it a case of the grass is always greener on the other side or should I agree with my wife that I am never happy with what I have got?

I seem to change my mind every day as to what I should get next. banghead

I think just the Internet in general! If I didn't have access to car forums, YouTube and Internet based shops I'd be perfectly happy with my Impreza as it came out the factory, instead of looking at all the things available to make it faster or the next step on the rung!

I have been driving for nearly 8 years, and been a PH for 4 years. I have only ever owned 2 cars, and i only bought the second because I crashed the first.

I would say i am the opposite of you OP, i get attached to my cars, no matter how much they break down, leak oil and cost me money (the current car)

I agree entirely. My VR6 would not have lasted 3 months if the internet had been around!

I've been on here since shortly after I could legally drive, so it could well explain some of my choices. I have absolutely no interest in a 335d, but have a serious urge for an MX5.

Not lost a penny so far.
I really enjoy looking for sub £1k cars and bikes. Worst you can lose is a bag.
Had some amazing fun with the bikes especially.

Bit of contest at work, buy for the journey home, beat the train cost. Mostly hypothetical so far. Win if we committed to it.

I had an RS6 which although a fantastic car let me down a few times and cost me a fair bit to own for the year I had it.
The crunch came after having the AA tow it back from Yorkshire to Kent when I was on holiday. 3 relay trucks to get it back with 2 dogs in tow. I loved that car but it was an expensive lova affair.

Makes me want too try more cars and more expensive cars at that but I resist, I'm happy with my cars and bikes. Almost - no time these days to finish my track car, would really like it done then sell it make the MR2 track car / fun car but with no more mods so its still good on the road and buy a Boxster for general road use / holidays.

Joined PH with a TVR S1, changed it for a BMW E30 which I have now had for nearly 10 years. So No.

Elise is coming up for 18 months ownership.
