Looking into getting an e36 m3.
Discussion
Hi all,
Looking into getting an e36 m3. Does anyone know the car shown below? Also not sure of the price he is asking. Is the car worth the money he is asking? Does Look like a very clean example.
Thanks in advance

That sort of money is reserved for collectors item cars with minuscule mileage. That car is low mileage, but I have seen many cars in similar fettle for around £5k to £6k, some much cheaper. It is very much a buyers market for these at the moment, unless absoloutely factory fresh minuscule mileage (and then that would be a very small potential market anyway)..I think the guy selling this is dreaming
I fairly recently paid just under £5k for a 99 M3 Vert in immaculate original condition with virtually every option and similar mileage

i was thinking 6k tops. Think that is a more sensible offer. the car does looks in very good condition but as you say, unless the mileage was super low then i think he isnt going to get that kinda money. ill offer him in the region of 6k and see what he says, although i dont think that he will accept that.
thanks
thanks
Depends how much you want an M3. I could see it going for £7k to the right buyer, if it's in as good as condition as the add specifies. Some of the details don't really add value though. An Insp2 every year, when it is only covering a few thousand miles is pretty pointless. It's only as good as it's last Insp2. These cars also benefit from being regularly driven, rather than sitting about for extended periods. Would need a proper poke around really.
I think the price is high, but prices seem to be all over the place. I'll be putting mine for sale soon with a lot less miles and loads of history, but I won't expect to get that sort of money for it. I will be wanting more than £6K though.
I think it all depends on the car and I know mine is a good one, plus I am in no panic to sell and can afford to sit on it until I get what I consider a fair price, and to someone I think will look after it. But not everyone is in this position and I'm sure there are bargains to be had.
I think any potential buyer would be wise to do their research and spend the money on a good car rather than risk a bargain.

Mine looked as good as that when I bought it 4 years ago. 80k miles, 2 owners, full history same age and it cost me £3500. It needed the suspension bushes doing soon after I bought it, which I did, plus I replaced the shocks/springs with Koni/Eibach. It had also had a new vanos and clutch just fitted before I bought it.
They really aren't worth anything like that figure these days!! I'd say 4.5-5k absolute tops.
Guess mines worth 3k. Its at 130k miles now but is in a LOT better shape than a 'properly' looked after 80k miler was. There also not hard to look after yourself, mines not been to a garage in 50k miles
Must have spent £1k at opie oils buy now....!!
I'd be giving this chap my £3k instead

I worry that when i finally part with mine i'll struggle to get 3-3.5 for it and mine's very tidy.
Wat people are asking and what they actually get are quite different atm.
i bought mine in 2004.... and i paid a load less than this advert... id struggle to get much more than 1k for mine now as its been to moon and back and become a track mule... still a fantastic and reliable car, will never sell it.Wat people are asking and what they actually get are quite different atm.

The standard headlights are down right dangerous!! First thing I did was put some HID's in so I could actually see where I was going...
Do you think you could get 3 car seats in the back of a 4 door or coupe? I've got 3 nippers and thinking about getting an E36 M3 as a weekend/Friday car. kids are 18 months, 3 and 5 so I need enough room for a full car seat, an in-between and booster. Might be tight (and it wont be long journeys or anything) I guess.
Any assistance greatly received. Just helps with negotiating with the wife you know?
