Morning people

I'm currently in the process of looking for a hot hatch to purchase in the next few weeks I've gone without a car for about 5 months now and just been using my work van (boring) and I've now come to the point where I can no longer use my van as my daily drive as it is driving me mad and ontop of that I'm missing having a car in my life.

My last car was a 330 e46 clubsport and I sold it as I was geting bored of it and I just never got round to replacing it as having the work van was convinent. But now I'm on the hunt for a hot hatch and I'm struggling to make a choice there are so many I'm a fan of and are all very diffrent but even to make the choice down to 2 is extremely difficult.

Ill give you all the list and if anyone could help with driver expernces and ownership story's to help me make my choice or just to shorten the list it would much appreciated guys.

Audi s3 mk1
Honda civic type r ep3
Vauxhall astra vxr
Vw golf r32 mk5/mk4

I have a budget of around 7-9k so more than enough to get what I'm looking for its just about making the decision i would like to keep the budget to more of the 7k mark tbh so i have some change for a few bits and pieces for my purchase but i know mk5 r32s can be more than that but what ever it takes to get what i want im willing to stump up the cash if nessary.

i must say I'm a turbo addict if I'm tbh yet all the others that are so appealing in diffrent lights regardless of them having no turbo.
Anyways time for me to start work hit me up with your views people.

Many thanks

Gaz

Why not something like a convertable or a sports car?

Surely you dont need it for practicality?

Just use the van for shoping etc?

For your budget I'd be looking at the s3 8L or a late mk4 r32 with change for a haldex upgrade which improves the 4wd massively. I prefer the NA 6pots power delivery and exhaust note but the s3 is more tuneable if you want big power.

Go test drive them both and see for yourself.

If you stretch to 10k you can get a superb mk5 r32. I paid that for mine in the summer - dp blue 3dr manual on 42k with fvwsh. That was private so probably looking at more with a dealer, if buying a DSG i'd want the dealer warranty as a failure is super expensive!

This.

Alternatively a Focus ST, megane or Cupra R.

I drove all the hot hatches you have listed above but the Focus ST was better to drive, more comfortable, sounds better and was improved greatly by the Mountune upgrade.

If you don't need the practicality of 4 seats how about a Z3M or S2000?

I had a st170 which was a good car; the focus RS is an awesome motor. Hold their value well though so you get higher mileage/older for your cash.

If you like the turbo I'd personally go for a mk1 Focus RS or Megane R26 F1 !

But on that budget im not sure whay else is available !

How about a crazy clio v6 ?
