I was thinking about this last night, what my ideal car would be like, so using only cars I have *owned* currently or in the past, here is what my ideal car would have (my opinion of the best parts from each)-

Some parts were not standard parts, but were used to make that specific car perfect for me at that time. I have included them in this list too.

5439cc AMG engine (CLK55)
Mid-engined (MR2)
RWD + LSD (200sx)
Manual 5 speed dog-leg gearbox (Merc 300se)
2dr, 2 seater coupe (MR2/VX220)
Climate control (CLK55)
Leather electric bucket seats (Impreza) -Non standard (Recaro)
Passive rear steer (300zx)
Brakes (CLK55)
Suspension (Impreza type-r) - Non standard (bilstein/eibach)
Steering wheel (Fiat Coupe)
Dash (CLK55/300zx) - Mix of both
ICE (Pulsar GTiR) - Non standard (TV/DVD/components/sub/amp etc)
Headlights (HIDs EVO VIII)
Weight (VX220ish)
Size (MR2 mk2)

so, if I could, that would be my ideal car. What would yours be?

I'd simply like a stylish, reasonably quick 4 seater convertible with a petrol engine capable of 40-50 mpg combined.

OK. I like this thread...

I'll have 2.
My daily drive:

Audi 4.2v8 (RS4)
Front engined (like most cars)
Variable 4wd to fully rear wheel (variable Haldex?)
Magneto ride suspension
Full flappy paddle (Ferrari 612)
Four seats, four doors
Saab 9000 aero seats.
Long range fuel tanks
Body: RS4 like, but more subtle

My lightweight sunny weather car:

Body: Westfield XI
Engine: RX8
Don't care about the rest.

An E30 with the 4 / 4.4 V8 conversion will do for me.

My car a 330ci sport its lovely, headed black leather electric seats, nice looking, nice to drive, xenon`s, cheap to maintain.

But that does more than 25mpg average.

I know what you will say 330cd, however, they possess to ability to bankrupt in an instant.

So...a 330cd M Sport without the ability to bankrupt me, okay it is not that imaginative but would do nicely

Honestly..

ST220 Performance Blue shell (or XFR actually)
Lexus LFA v10 and exhaust
6 speed manual (insert best manual gearbox here) Unfortunately probably the best gearbox I've properly used is from an EP3.
With RWD please.

And insert all the new electrical goodies such as adaptive cruise, B&W stereo etc.

Despite my general dislike of 911's, they do seem to tick all my boxes in what I'd like in a car, especially a green GT3 RS

Very good shout, you didn't specify what body style, for me a E30 touring would be just as much a winner as a coupe.

A Golf rallye with a 3.2 VR6 would be high on my list to.
