RR bashing in Autocar magazine
Discussion
Did any of you notice that the week after the new RR article the first 4 letters, inc. the letter of the week, were from people slating it?! The letter of the bloody week was just some bloke saying he preferred the Gayenne! Outstanding letter that!! Two more said the same and the fourth said a Mk1 RR was better. I'd have been on the phone to my RR/LR PR dept telling them not to give those dips
ts at Autocar any more cars. WTF is wrong with the people at that rag??!!!

I thought the idea of that was for readers to be able to write in and voice their opinions???
It'd be interesting to know what they based their informed decision on seeing as the only people to have driven the new RR so far are dealers & journalists!!! Members of the public don't get a chance to drive it until the first cars get delivered in Jan.
So, that leaves me to draw the conclusion that they don't have any readers and have to make this s
t up.

I drove an ATB and a regular supercharged car today and I have to tell you that it's fkin awesome. The car feels very different from the L322, the cabin is superb and the performance is phenomenal. The extra legroom in the back is very noticeable and the car is quieter thanks to the aluminium monocoque. The new auto terrrain response system is fun and there is now a facia button for the junction view cameras that makes them easy to use. The new Meridian surround sound systems are epic. Panoramic roof is very cool. The only grumble I heard from anyone is the lack of grab handles in the back.
This car is a winner and really moves the RR on to another level. Main problem is going to be getting one. I sold one today to a current Cayenne owner, she came from the Porsche dealer and was blown away by the RR, no comparison.

Really struggling to see any downsides whatsoever with them from listening to opinions I trust (Autocar not being one of them, generally) - seems overwhelmingly positive from what I've heard, can't say I've had the pleasure yet. They look impossibly beautiful inside and out (though mainly in - that interior is to die for).
I can't help but wonder what improvements they've got lined up for the LR4 / Disco 4 and the RR Sport now that the FFRR is so good.
Shame the RR is a bit far to stretch the budget when the time comes to get rid of the ML63, it seems a massive leap forward for LR, and the first one I'd gladly throw caution to the wind with and trust to be a reliable way to cover serious milages.
LR4 remains tempting, but the Cayenne is almost too good to pass up. Still though, that nagging streak of patriotism says buy a Landy anyway

History repeating itself. I thought the same a decade ago when the BMW RR came out. Still, I'm prepared to keep an open mind until we can see how the warranty issues pan out. Fingers crossed for the new one.TimJMS said:

If they keep up the build quality of the outgoing model they will be fine, the ones I know have been flawless.Frimley111R said:

After with the recent goings on at the BBC, maybe they should realise that they need to pull their finger out and take their editorial responsibilities more seriously.

Drove 3 different versions of the new model yesterday on and off road, what a fantastic car, ride was the equal or maybe even better than any luxury car I have been in, 80% of the roll has gone and what a cabin, I would happily live there. The Supercharged version is quick but the 4.4 is almost so, and driving it very briskly on winding country roads it still did over 25 mpg.
Wished I'd ordered one 6 months ago....heyho

That 4.4 SDV8 is the pick of the bunch for me.
Driving it across Northern Europe a little while back, it was giving me 34.2 mpg.

Was that in the heavier L322? If so, bodes very well indeed for the new one!Driving it across Northern Europe a little while back, it was giving me 34.2 mpg.

...and I wasn't driving like Miss Daisy either.

In the 4.4 TDV8 L322, I used to get 31 mpg.

PS If any are reading this please explain why a recent cover headline said 'Make or break for Jag supercar' when the article inside said it was canned. How it is going to 'make' from that is beyond me!
