Calling all RV8 engine builders!

Does my woodroffe key look like it is in the cam far/deep enough? It's a Crower cam and Land Rover key so initially they didn't fit together - had to file off some key and even then the bugg3r didn't go in without significant persuasion with a rubber mallet!

Obviously the effects would be catastrophic if the key came out at any RPM figure and seeing as it's a tiny cheap part I don't want to spoil the ship - as the adage goes.

Cheers

Ryan

Looks fine,

But when you said you had to file it down concerns me

Hi Alex,

Just had to rub it flat side on a file both sides of the key. Not significantly reshape it or anything.
That would have concerned me too!

Any luck on that paint quote in the end BTW?

Cheers Peter - glad to hear you're up and running now!

Did you go megasquirt recently too? Might need a few pointers on that.

Yep all fitted but waiting to have it fully mapped.

Hope to have it back by the end of next week.

Fair do's mate. Was having a think about wrapping it you know.......... scratchchin

Cerb got done and looks great - if a little 'gangster' in matte black.

If only I could find a dark matte blue I think that would look the beans.

Slow mate!! Just moved offices and been spending all my waking hours fabricating workbenches and server racks but engine and box are coming out in 2 weeks.
Box will get a refurb and I'll clean and paint the chassis where I can. I'm not going to take the body off due to lack of storage. Will do it another time.
Did the preloads in about an hour last weekend biggrin so much easier with adj rods!!

My brakes from Keri at WMS arrived (callipers look proper saucy plus they weigh about the same as an orange!!) and got a full set of power flex bushes waiting upstairs to go on. Helix clutch and lightened flywheel are also to get fitted.
Megasquirt is the only thing left to get.

Proper excited! I think (hope!) I've spent money on all the right things - the ones that will give noticeable improvements which is thus far:

Suspension (Gaz Gold Pro)
Drop Links (Leven)
Engine (Top Hats)
Engine Management (MS)
Clutch (Helix)
Brakes (WMS)
Bushes (PF)

Hmmmm - in fact the Gearbox and body is the only standard TVR things left!! laughrolleyes

There are a few types of Helix clutch iirc.

I couldn't get on with mine, far too heavy so went back to a standard 5.0 from Dom.

Good luck with the build, it all takes far too long when you have to work as well smile.
