It doesn't say much.

What's a "Personal Statement"?

That explains what it's for, not what it is.

Is it what we normally call a CV (Curriculum Vitae)?

It might help for those not aware of "personal statements" to give a little more background.

If you PM it to me I'm happy to take a look.

Eric - I believe (I only found about them a short while ago) that it's a summary to sell yourself on a Uni application.

I'd like to know.

You basically say why you want to study the course you're applying to, why you think you're suited to it. You can also talk about your hobbies and work experience etc. Finally, it can be used to explain things like if you're a mature student, why you suddenly want to come to uni etc.

Make sure you staple a twenty pound note to it.

That should ensure you get 'noticed'.

PS were always pushed as VERY important when applying for Uni as it coudl differentiate you from another candidate for over subscribed courses.

Heya. I've just submitted my UCAS actually...

My college (I'm 40 doing an adult access course) has two full-time careers / personal statement advisors who will read it and go through it changing and amending things.

I gave them both a copy of my first draft, and they both said 'it's perfect as it is - send it!'

So I must be some kind of personal statement writing God or something biggrin

By all means send it to me. I'll send you mine too if you like, although it's for a Medical / Paramedic course.
